Only two games back from suspension, Cronulla Sharks prop Andrew Fifita has a new problem with the Match Review Committee after he was sin-binned for a brutal off-the-ball shot on New Zealand Warriors forward Lachlan Burr.

With Cronulla leading 18-16 with 13 minutes remaining at Westpac Stadium on Friday, Fifita inexplicably decided to belt Burr as he ran a decoy line with New Zealand on the attack.

The Warriors back-rower hit the deck like a sack of spuds, prompting Adam Blair to grab Fifita in a fiery push-and-shove.

"Late?!" a disbelieving Fifita responded before jogging from the field.

The Fox League commentators suggested Fifita's hit may have been a shoulder charge – an act the Match Review Committee won't be best pleased with.

The enforcer's brain snap proved exceptionally costly as Chanel Harris-Tavita booted a penalty goal to put the home team on level teams.

Then, with Fifita still off the park, Warriors pivot Blake Green drilled a one-pointer to edge his side ahead 19-18 – a winning margin.

New Zealand's Blair and Newcastle Knights forward James Gavet have both been sin-binned and charged for whacking opponents without possession in recent weeks.
