Manly Sea Eagles hitman Jorge Taufua admits he's played back his monstrous hit on Melbourne five-eighth Cameron Munster "about 25 times" since Saturday's game at Lottoland.

As he so often does, Taufua timed a one-on-one tackle on Munster to perfection, laying out the Storm star in a ball-and-all hit that sent him flying and then thudding into the Brookvale turf.

The tackle had the 14,640 who came to witness the famous rivalry in raptures, with what many are deeming the clear winner for the hit of the season.

Unfortunately the freak tackle was the only highlight for the Sea Eagles on the night, with Melbourne securing the minor premiership with a dominant 30-point win over the northern beaches side.

Munster hurt as Storm wrap up NRL top spot Melbourne have wrapped up their third minor premiership in four years but will likely rest Cameron Munster in the last NRL round due to a shoulder injury.

Cameron Munster was hit so hard on the weekend even America felt his pain. Bleacher Report' s post came after Taufua ' s monstrous hit found its way onto the Instagram account of House of Highlights, which shares clips of predominantly American sports to its 14 million followers.

Reflecting on the now-famous tackle, Taufua admitted he was disappointed Munster was able to get up so quickly to play the ball, enabling the Storm to eventually cross for their third try of the game.

"The one on Munster, he's elusive as it is and I was expecting him just to step me. The highlight reel could've been different - he could've stepped me and just scored," Taufua told media on Monday.

"Thankfully the play stopped there but unfortunately the scoreboard didn't show that. It would've helped if he stayed down longer but that's just the type of character he is.

"It's cool to watch but the night itself is very disappointing."

Taufua's immaculate tackling technique often has fans doing a double-take, such is the similarity with how he tackles like former hard-hitting Manly great Steve Matai.

However a humble Taufua refused to be compared to the Sea Eagles fan-favourite.

"As of late Stevie's name gets chucked up a lot but I think it's something I've brought into my own game," Matai said.

"I think the way we defend it's just an aggressive mentality that I have.

"As much as I appreciate the comparison to Stevie, I always say that he's in a league of his own. I prefer not to be compared to Stevie because of the high stature and high regard that I hold him in."
