Australia are likely to tour Bangladesh in 2017 to play the two-Test series that had been postponed last year due to security concerns. The teams were set to play in Dhaka in October 2015, but Cricket Australia received a government advisory about threats to Australian interest in Bangladesh two

This will be Australia's only Test tour of the year, although there are white-ball series in India in January, South Africa in February and March and England in July.

There is also a three-match one-day series scheduled for Zimbabwe, although that appears in doubt as the African nation has been suspended from the ICC.

The two Tests on Bangladesh's spinning decks are likely to play an important role in Australia's quest to make the inaugural final of the world Test championship in 2021. The two nations drew 1-1 when they last met in Bangladesh more than two years ago.

The host nation claimed an historic win in the opening Test in Dhaka before Australia, with Pat Cummins the only recognised fast bowler alongside three spinners, claimed victory in Chittagong. Nathan Lyon finished with 22 wickets, the most by an Australian in a two-Test series.
