The news comes after eyebrows were raised earlier in the season when Daniher was spotted meeting Swans CEO Tom Harley while visiting his surgeon in Sydney.

It is understood that a desire to live in Sydney as opposed to Melbourne is central to the 25-year-old's trade request.

After being named Essendon's best and fairest in 2017 and making the All-Australian team, Daniher has been cruelled by groin injuries, playing just 11 games in the last two seasons.

A star during his junior years, Daniher emerged as one of the most talented prospects of the 2012 Draft and had the option to join both Essendon and Sydney due to his father Anthony having played over 100 games for both clubs.

Daniher was offered lucrative deals by both clubs before deciding to nominate Essendon where his family name is one of the most famous in the club's history.

If he is traded to the Swans this summer, Daniher will depart having kicked 188 goals in 104 games for the Bombers, winning the club's goal-kicking in four consecutive seasons between 2014 and 2017.
