Warner fails to fire again as NSW stumble

Warner fails to fire again as NSW stumble David Warner has again failed to make a case for Test selection with another failure in New South Wales' one-day match against Tasmania in Sydney. The Test opener was uncharacteristically tied down before he skied a wild pull shot off Riley Meredith to be caught and bowled for four off 12 balls.

A Twenty20 International ( T 20 I) is an international cricket match between two teams, each having T 20 I status, as determined by the International Cricket Council.

The 20th (twentieth) century was a century that began on January 1, 1901 and ended on December 31, 2000. It was the tenth and final century of the 2nd millennium.

David Warner appeared to disregard one of cricket's unwritten rules on his way to a brilliant T20 century against Sri Lanka.

On the final ball of the penultimate over, Warner was running to the striker's end when the incoming throw appeared to hit his thigh. Warner and Glenn Maxwell took another run after the Sri Lankan fielder who was backing-up had to chase the deflection.

It was a key moment for Warner, as it allowed him to regain the strike for the final over on 92 not out. He hit the first ball from Dusan Shanaka for four and only completed his century on the last delivery of the innings for an even 100 not out.

There was little controversy over the incident, with most of the focus rightly on Warner's superb start to the international home summer after a dismal Ashes. The century milestone, though, may not have been possible without the questionable overthrow.

Taking an overthrow that has deflected off a batsman is not against the rules of cricket but is considered poor etiquette; a 'spirit of the game' breach.

It is possible that Maxwell called the run and Warner simply went; though Warner did not tell his partner no-run after the deflection and Maxwell was at no risk of being run-out if sent back.

There was also some debate among cricket journalists on Twitter as to whether a deflection off the body, as opposed to the bat, was in fact acceptable.

Any deflection off the batsman to cause an overthrow is usually viewed dimly by the fielding side. There appeared to be a slight reaction of dismay from the Sri Lankan fielder who was caught out of position by the deviation off Warner.

Arguably the most famous overthrows in cricket history came in this year's World Cup final, when a New Zealand throw hit the bat of England all-rounder Ben Stokes and deflected for a boundary.

A sheepish Stokes was awarded a total of six runs on the third-last ball of the innings, a crucial moment as the final ended tied; and was ultimately won by England on boundary countback after a deadlocked Super Over.

Sunday's incident was far from that dramatic, though it allowed Warner to reach his century; which ended up outdoing Sri Lanka's poor response of 99 all on its own. Australia smashed 2-233 - their fourth-highest T20 total and best on home soil - to win by 134 runs at Adelaide Oval.

Among Warner's gleeful supporters was Ian Higgins of The Grade Cricketer.

Watson also sent congratulations to Warner for his landmark innings, which came on his 33rd birthday.

"What a great way to start the Australian summer of cricket. Aussies dominated Sri Lanka in the first T20I. Dave Warner, you can never write off a champion. What a great way to burst into the Australian summer of cricket. He batted beautifully," Watson said in a Twitter video.

AUSSIE T20 BLUEPRINT SET

Australia's cricketers have unveiled their perfect blueprint to win next year's Twenty20 World Cup, says David Warner.

Australia posted its largest T20 win, by runs margin, on Sunday when trouncing Sri Lanka by 134 runs in Adelaide.

The hosts ruthlessly went one-up in the three match series which continues in Brisbane on Wednesday.

Opener Warner cracked his maiden T20 international century in Australia's imposing 2-233 - the nation's fourth-largest T20 total and biggest on home soil.

The Lankans mustered just 9-99 in reply.

Warner says the swashbuckling batting performance was the prototype for the T20 World Cup in Australia starting next October.

"The thing we can take out of it is making sure that we stick to our game plans," Warner said.

"We're going to be playing at all these venues (at the World Cup) so with the bat, you have got to work out where you're going to hit your boundaries, what gaps you're going to hit, what bowlers you're going to take on in the first six (overs).

"These are things that you have got to think about when you're out there.

'There's a lot to learn in this game and you're still learning every game you play leading into this World Cup."

Australia's batsmen were also going to school on the tactics of their bowling teammates.

"It's about us as batters trying to work off, and learn off, our bowlers as well," Warner said.

"And making sure we're playing the right brand ... out there (in Adelaide) you saw it firsthand."

Warner, captain Aaron Finch (64 from 36 balls) and Glenn Maxwell (62 from 28) feasted on wayward Sri Lankan bowling.

Australia's bowlers then restricted the visitor's batsmen with legspinner Adam Zampa taking three wickets and pacemen Mitchel Starc and Pat Cummins two apiece.

The Case For Storing Humanity's Most Important Data On Glass Drink Coasters .
It sounds a bit ridiculous at first. Dozens of gigabytes of data can now be encoded on a virtually indestructible glass hard drive that’s the size and shape of a drink coaster. Microsoft just revealed a proof of concept. It’s a thin square of glass that’s been laser-etched with microscopic geometric shapes called “voxels” that contain a combined 75.6 gigabytes of data, which contains the 1978 film Superman in its entirety. The announcement is a publicity stunt, sure, but the idea of storing our most important data on slices of glass is undeniably poignant—and practical. Microsoft calls this new glass storage system Project Silica.
