I haven't said anything about Barry Hall that I don't believe is 100 per cent true.

The only thing I complained about were the two-minute rounds. I called them embarrassing, which they are; even amateurs fight three-minute rounds.

I tried to get that changed in the contract, but it didn't happen. Whatever.

Seeing Barry was so keen on two minutes, I called him Noodles. At the press conference, I brought him a few packs and said: "I hear chicken is your favourite flavour."

I'm over that, anyway. He can fight one-minute rounds if he wants and I'll still beat him.

Barry's done and said whatever's suited him, that's evident. Before he finally fired up at the press conference, he hadn't done much promotion at all; just one day where he was s--t-canning everyone I've ever fought.

He said, 'Let's put Gallen's career into perspective'. He tried to say that my opponents have done nothing, then a few days later he's in the paper saying that I'm a 9-0 fighter, he's 42 years of age and asking, 'Where does Gallen go if I beat him on debut?'

He's picked the wrong person if he wants to get in someone's head. Throughout my career, I've been hammered from pillar to post by every journalist and fan there is. There's zero chance of getting in my head.

After that, he tried to claim that a lot of rugby league people wanted him to knock me out, especially the Queenslanders. He reckons I'm "not a very liked human being".

That was funny, actually. Someone showed me the NRL on Nine Instagram post of that quote and of about 50 comments, 47 of them were saying, 'Ah … nah, mate!' I reckon even 10 of them were Queenslanders, so I don't think Barry got that one right. I was shocked, I thought the Queenslanders were going to hammer me.

Two-minute rounds. And me doing tenfold promotion.

They're the only things I've called him out on. People can call it trash talk, but I call it facts.

Former AFL star Barry Hall labels NRL legend Paul Gallen as 'arrogant' ahead of boxing bout on Friday night It's one of the most anticipated fights for Australians this year, and Barry Hall has taken a final shot at Paul Gallen before the two square off this Friday night in Melbourne. With so much hype around the AFL vs NRL 'Code War' boxing bout, both men have said their fair share of words but the time for talking is almost over. And speaking to Fox Sports News on Tuesday night, the former Swans forward labelled the recently-retired Sharks captain as 'arrogant'.“The date was set, I got off the couch at 42 years of age and away we go," he said.

I knew from day one that I was the outsider, that I'm not in their corner. My name's listed second on everything, from the fight posters down. Barry's been up there on the Gold Coast training with Green's long-term trainer, Angelo Hyder. Danny publicly questioned my confidence – is that an impartial question?

That's nothing new to me either, being the outsider. If they want to stack everything in Barry's favour, fine. I'll just get in that ring and do what I have to do.

Shut them all up. Ruin all their nights.

I don't think any preparation is ever perfect, but I've done pretty well for the past six weeks. I've worked hard and sacrificed a lot of things. I'm ready to go.

If I can produce what I've produced in sparring, Barry won't be able to go with me.

I know I've got the goods to get the job done, like I have nine times before.

I'll be in Barry's face non-stop, looking to knock him out.

THE REAL MAIN EVENT

Footballers getting in the ring isn't always well-received within the boxing community – but here's how I see it.

I want to see the undercard guys from my fights headlining their own Main Event shows one day. Tim Tszyu has already gone on to do that.

If Barry and I can bring thousands of people to Margaret Court Arena and have many more watching on TV, then those people also get to see the Maloney brothers.

Some people may not realise that Barry and I aren't the main event, meaning the last fight, on the card. That's Andrew Maloney vs Elton Dharry, fighting for the WBA interim super flyweight world championship.

The Maloney brothers are world-class boxers who've had 20 fights, yet no one's ever heard of them. Now they're getting exposure all over Australia. How good is that for them?

If Andrew Maloney wins that world title, maybe next time he's headlining his own show.

People in boxing carry on about footballers fighting, saying it's bad for the sport. All they're thinking of is the dollars in their back pocket; or in this case, the dollars not in their back pocket. They don't care about the sport, they just care about themselves and the money that they're not earning.

And why be precious? Boxing is a show. It's a tough sport that I have absolute respect for, but it's also entertainment.

The truth is, everyone is riddled with flaws and we should take the bad with the good, or not at all. To create a list of what a man/woman should be and shouldn’t be is preposterous, not to mention downright hilarious. Similarly, there are a great deal of men and women on the site who completely contradict

High-profile people fighting, even if they're footy players … it's just basic mathematics. If the Red Hot Chili Peppers play a concert for 30,000 people, they get paid accordingly. If Joe Blow at the local pub plays for 100 people, they get paid accordingly.

Basic maths. That's life.

I don't ever wonder if I could have boxed full-time. I'm really proud of the rugby league career that I had. I'm happy and content.

To be able to do the best of both worlds, box in between my rugby league career, has been great. And I understand where I'm at, boxing-wise.

One thing that no one in boxing can say is that I've disrespected the sport. I've treated boxing with the utmost respect.

Paul Gallen holding his hands up: After beating John Hopoate, moving to 9-0.© Getty After beating John Hopoate, moving to 9-0.

I've trained hard for it, I've done everything other boxers do to prepare. I've been lucky enough with my profile that I've been able to have some big fights as a part-time boxer, but as far as the sport goes, I've had nothing but respect for boxing and its fighters.

Seeing fighters like the Maloney brothers train their backsides off for little recognition, then finally get their first chance to fight on Main Event because I'm facing Barry Hall, I think that's unreal.

If I can produce a couple more events like this to expose these fighters to Australia, then I've done my job for boxing.
