Geelong footy manager Simon Lloyd said the club were happy to hang on to the veteran.
"The club is delighted to see Mitch commit to the club,” Lloyd said.
"Mitch has been a mainstay of our team over 10 seasons, a dependable, intelligent teammate and a quality player.
"Our members and supporters have watched Mitch’s career unfold and we all look forward to it continuing over the next five seasons."
Duncan was a part of the Cats' 2011 premiership side and in 2017 finished second behind Patrick Dangerfield in the club's best and fairest.
