Six killed as avalanche buries Indian patrol on disputed glacier An avalanche on Monday hit an Indian patrol in the world's highest militarised zone in the Himalayas, killing four soldiers and two porters, an army spokesman said. The disaster was the latest on the Siachen Glacier at more than 5,000 metres (16,500 feet) that is claimed by India and rival Pakistan. Hundreds of troops from both sides have died in avalanches and from the fierce climate in the region over the past three decades. An Indian military spokesman told AFP that the avalanche engulfed eight people in the patrol at the northern end of the glacier in the Karakoram mountain range.

List manager Stephen Silvagni kept fans on their feet, giving it his all as Carlton put in bids for highly rated academy prospects Liam Henry and Tom Green.

Unfortunately for the Blues, the Dockers matched their bid for Henry at pick 9 with GWS doing the same for Green at pick 10.

The bids prompted an exchange of picks that fell lower in the draft for the Blues, who went on to trade picks 11 and 62 to the Suns in exchange for 17 and 22.

Terror plot accused says he was just 'taking the piss' A man accused of plotting terror attacks against left-wing targets in Melbourne claims he was more intent on causing hilarity than harm, as a document he wrote about "building destruction" was meant to be satirical.Police allege that in 2015 and 2016 Phillip Michael Galea planned attacks against socialist and anarchist organisations and was writing "The Patriot's Cookbook", which would encourage others to initiate terror attacks on left-wing and Muslim targets.

Once that deal was complete, Silvagni sent selections 22 and 25 to the Power for pick 20.

The Blues would select utility Brodie Kemp (17) and midfielder Sam Philp (22).

Carlton's unsuccessful bid for Henry worked a delight for Fremantle who ended up with three straight top-10 selections.

Hayden Young (7), Caleb Serong (8), and Henry (9) all found themselves drafted by the Western Australian club.

There were no surprises from the Suns who selected best mates and Oakleigh Chargers teammates Matthew Rowell and Noah Anderson with picks 1 and 2.

Rowell and Anderson, who attended Carey Baptist Grammar School, made history as the only two young stars from the same school to be drafted with the first and second picks.

Rowell was the clear number one selection all season long after earning best-on-ground honours in the 2018 NAB League Grand Final and averaging 24 disposals and five clearances at the 2019 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.

Rowell was bursting with excitement when his name was read out and declared he was full of "pure joy" as he prepares to leave his home in Victoria for the Sunshine State.

"It's pure joy and excitement with what this opportunity brings," Rowell said.
