The Daily Telegraph reports the remaining $3.6 million owed to the 30-year-old will be paid out over a 10-year deal to work in administration within the club.

Burgess currently has no ambitions to coach as he looks set to be trained in a football administration role.

The former star could have the luxury of learning from some of the best minds in the football business with the potential to work with chief executive Blake Solly and general manager Shane Richardson.

The finer details of the new deal are still being finalised.

"There's nothing official to say just yet," Burgess told The Daily Telegraph.

"We are working through the deal at the moment and I am excited at the prospect of developing further skills off the field."

The Rabbitohs are hoping the remainder of Burgess' contract can be categorised under medical retirement and avoid being part of the salary cap.

As reported previously by the Mole, the Rabbitohs have offered Titans forward Jai Arrow $800,000 per season for four years with hopes the 24-year-old can replace Burgess.
