In the early part of the last decade, Kieran Foran and Daly Cherry-Evans were the best halves combination in the NRL.

Winning a premiership together in 2011 at Manly and then making the grand final again in 2013, they were near-unstoppable on their day.

But while Cherry-Evans stuck solid at the Sea Eagles, Foran left for seemingly greener pastures and headed to Parramatta in 2016.

Angelina Jolie 'warns Brad Pitt to keep Shiloh away from Alia Shawkat'

Angelina Jolie 'warns Brad Pitt to keep Shiloh away from Alia Shawkat' Angelina Jolie has reportedly warned Brad Pitt to not let their daughter Shiloh socialise with his friend Alia Shawkat, just weeks after warning the same about Jennifer AnistonThe move follows a similar alleged ban on the Jolie-Pitt children meeting Jennifer Aniston, after Brad started getting close to his ex-wife, 15 years after they divorced.

After just nine games at the club, the 29-year old was released from his lucrative contract due to a plethora of personal issues before taking up a one-year deal with the Warriors.

One season across the ditch was enough for him, as Foran signed a long-term deal with Canterbury - but since the start of 2018, has managed just 26 games due to injuries.

Foran and DCE were a lethal combination on the field and great mates off it - but with Foran bouncing around and the Manly skipper staying put, the pair drifted.

That was until Cherry-Evans was about to play his 200th NRL game, when he received a text message from his old mate.

“Recently – not always," he said of their friendsip.

"In the last 12-18 months in particular we have remained in regular contact. It has been really nice to connect back with him, he is a great fella.

"He messaged me for my 200th game – we never fell apart, let me make that clear.

"He went to different clubs, but in particular the last 12-18 months he’s been someone I speak to pretty regularly."

Foran has of course struggled with injuries as previously mentioned, and was pushing for a return this weekend against Manly.

But the Kiwi playmaker missed out on selection - something that Cherry-Evans knows will be a plus for Manly's chances.

“I messaged him the other day and said hopefully that string of games can be strung together after this weekend, and he can sit this one out," he said.

"He’s a fantastic player, and there is no doubt that when he plays the Bulldogs are a better side – that’s just the quality of player he is.

"He lifts everyone around him, so as a friend I hope Foz can put some footy together this year and show what he is capable of.

"Speaking to him and understanding the headspace he is in, it is a shame to see him still suffering these little hurdles.

"I know he’s going to be back bigger and stronger at some stage,
