As for why roosters seem to love to crow in the mornings, this isn’t fully understood, but is thought to be tied with the aforementioned notion of crowing being primarily about announcing territory and where a particular rooster sees itself on the pecking order.

Ask the Roosters coach about their tantalising clash with the Storm on Thursday night and he will offer relatively straightforward responses.

But ask him about the way Juergen Klopp rebuilt Liverpool or the two decades of success led by Bill Belichick at the New England Patriots and his eyes light up.

Robinson wants to take little pieces from each success story in sport around the world and build it into what he calls Roosters DNA. That's why the club visited Barcelona's Camp Nou prior to their World Club challenge win at the start of the year.

"I love watching teams around the world that do that but I also know the personality of each individual player that I'm watching play," Robinson explained on Wednesday morning.

"I love watching - whether it's Liverpool who have just won the title - but then you'll watch (Andrew) Robertson at the back and (Mo) Salah in the midfield. You'll watch their own unique style and Klopp has done an amazing job in doing that. There's that continual search to offer that to players whilst being a team - being an absolute team."

Allowing players to express themselves onfield is the piece of the puzzle Robinson has plucked from Liverpool in the building of his own dynasty.

"I feel like we're continuing to try and push ourselves to coach better and the players are pushing themselves to play better. In that, what we're trying to do is wholeheartedly believe in our style of play. That's first of all in what we want to do," Robinson said.

Robinson tried to build a perfect ecosystem within the constraints of scientific and political realities. Robinson has been writing since the 1980s, but it was arguably Red Mars, the first book in a trilogy about the colonization and terraforming of you-know-where, for which he became best And why not?

"We believe in the way that we play, we believe in the intensity that we play with and the focus that we play with. But on the back of that, how do Joey Manu and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves be themselves on that footy field?

"They have two different personalities, positions, so how do you express that within a team of 13 on the field or 17 or your squad of 36? This is who we are. We believe in who we are.

"But we also want you to be yourself, we want you to express your personality on top of that and what you love to do in the game but it must go hand in hand with our style of play."

That's where the Patriots come into it.

Robinson admires the New England mantra that has become synonymous with team sport around the world: do your job.

"An amazing organisation in the way they did that. Their mantra of 'do your job'. Absolutely - that's the Patriots way," he said.

"You have to play their style. You can debate the personality coming out on the other end and I guess how much freedom was given within that. But that's where it slightly differs, I think.

Bankwest Stadium turf given the 'all clear' by NRL after Roosters pair's ACLs The NRL has confirmed the games scheduled to be played at Bankwest Stadium for the remainder of round seven will go ahead following an inspection of the playing surface. An inspection of the turf took place ahead of Saturday's clash featuring Parramatta and Canberra, with the venue getting the tick of approval.

"You have a [Pep] Guardiola team at Manchester City, where he is really trying to mould all those different players - or Barcelona in their own way.

"I think what Kansas City [Chiefs] did this year in allowing that to happen was a really good example. But longevity has come through people understanding the team and the principles that they play for."

Roosters-Storm clashes are as close as the NRL comes to two dynasties colliding.

Robinson understands why their meetings excite those outside the Roosters bubble but inside their Moore Park headquarters, the master coach treats the week the same as any other.

"I don't find it challenging. There's nothing there for me. We get excited about playing every opponent," he said.

"We don't rise or fall based on the opposition coach. The consistency in performance is around respecting every coach that you come up against and then you attack them how you want to.

"There's no difference for me against any other opponent. If you change the way you coach for an opposition coach then you're heading in the wrong direction."
