PARIS (Reuters) - France regretted Tuesday that Lebanese officials have still not succeeded in forming a government, as they had pledged on September 1 to 'Emmanuel Macron.

"We call on them to find an agreement without delay on the formation by Mr. Moustapha Adib of a mission government, which will have to implement the necessary reforms. France, for its part, stands alongside the Lebanese, as it does. 'always did,' the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

One week after the September 15 deadline set for them by the French president during his last visit to Beirut, the Lebanese political parties have still not succeeded in agreeing on the composition of the new government, due in particular to the insistence of Hezbollah and its allies in the Shiite Amal movement to obtain the finance ministry. Lebanese President Michel Aoun said on Monday that he did not see a solution in the state of the discussions.
