Rising Western Australian star Cameron Green continues to press his claims for a spot in the Test side, posting his fourth Sheffield Shield century in less than a year.

Green's unbeaten 185 for Western Australia against New South Wales in Adelaide took his Sheffield Shield aggregate since the start of last season to 951 runs, the most by any player in that period.

With an average of 79.25 since the start of the 2019-20 season, Green is putting pressure on Matthew Wade for a spot in the Australian middle order.

A genuine all-rounder who also boasts a Shield bowling average of 21.54, Green could find himself in the Test side as a specialist batsman, with back problems currently preventing him from bowling.

DSDS: Dieter Bohlen speaks power: So it goes on It was the surprise of last week: Michael Wendler (48) announced on Instagram, his DSDS jury seat next to Dieter Bohlen (66), Maite Kelly (40) and Mike Singer (20) vacate. Michael threw the federal government in his video " violations of the constitution before " and also distanced himself from the RTL broadcaster. Since then, viewers have been puzzling whether there will be a successor. After all, Pietro Lombardi (28) and DSDS favorite Menderes (35) have already applied publicly.

National selector Trevor Hohns said last summer that Green needed to be bowling to be considered for the Test side, but his sheer weight of runs since then means his name is bound to come up in discussions for a spot at number six.

Australia hasn't played a Test since January, meaning there's little form to go on, but Travis Head made a century against New Zealand in Melbourne just two Tests ago, while Wade, who is approaching his 33rd birthday, failed to reach 40 in the series against the Kiwis.

Head, who turns 27 this summer, is clearly the longer-term option, meaning Wade could find himself on the outer if selectors are keen to blood Green.

Test off-spinner Nathan Lyon was part of the New South Wales attack that toiled unsuccessfully against Green, and came away excited by what he saw.

Greatest cheating cricket from Australia, the crowd throw bottles at them. Explain this Aussie sportsmanship, what is Justin Langer doing?

"He was very, very impressive," he said. "Even under pressure he looked quite calm and clear. You have to give credit where it's due."

One man who knows plenty about being thrown into the Test side at a young age is Green's Western Australian teammate Ashton Agar, who was also singing Green's praises at stumps.

However, Agar, who made his Test debut at 19, warned against expecting too much, too soon.

"He's got a great cricket brain," Agar said. "They threw everything at him out there: bouncer plan, bowling wide channel, attacking the stumps, Nathan Lyon bowling a lot of overs - the best spinner in the world - and he had a really solid plan for everyone he faced. Even talking to him in the middle, he's really calm and composed.

"Whenever he does get the opportunity at the next level, I think he'll certainly be ready for that when it's there. But I just hope we don't put too much pressure on him, just let him go about his business because he's a beautiful player and think he'll be an absolute superstar.

"To go in there and be 185 not out for a very young player, just shows he has maturity beyond his years and so much skill. The best part about it is he's a great kid - a great young guy.

"He learns, listens, works extremely hard on his game and assesses situations really nicely. And he looks really calm at the crease, nothing seems to faze him too much. For him to go out and get a really big hundred, again, is pretty special."
