If Dodgers fall short of World Series, it's probably time to move on from Dave Roberts

If Dodgers fall short of World Series, it's probably time to move on from Dave Roberts For a franchise that hasn’t won a World Series since 1988, bringing a title home to Los Angeles is the only goal. For a franchise that’s won eight consecutive division titles and made the World Series twice, winning a championship is the only goal. Everything else is failure, for better or worse. Mattingly, the guy Roberts replaced, was let go in part because his teams failed to get to the World Series in their three trips to the postseason, all three trips after regular-season division titles. For MLB newcomer Arozarena it was already the ninth home run in the playoffs, which means a league record.

The Rays can continue to dream of their first title.

The Dodgers, who last lost in the World Series in 2017 and 2018, can take the lead for the third time on Sunday (local time) in the battle for the first championship in 32 years.
