Confusion surrounds the availability of both Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma, after the pair were left out of India's squad for the upcoming Test series against Australia.

Rohit, who scored 529 runs in a three Test series against South Africa in late 2019, and Ishant, who took 11 wickets at 23 the last time India toured here, are both currently sidelined with injury.

In a statement announcing the squads for the upcoming tour, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave little information on when the pair might return.

"The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor the progress of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma," the statement said.

India will be touring Australia in a bio-secure bubble in November where they take part in four Test matches, three ODIs and three T20Is after the conclusion of the ongoing IPL 2020 campaign. Rohit Sharma, who is currently injured for Mumbai Indians , hasn’t been named in any of the three squads .

Rohit hasn't played for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL since October 18, where he reportedly suffered a left hamstring injury.

However, at the same time the BCCI was announcing his omission from the squad to tour Australia, he was batting in the nets, with Mumbai tweeting a 45 second video of the right-hander "in full flow."

Fomer Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar said the situation is far from ideal.

"A bit of transparency and openness about what kind of injury he has will help everybody, because the Indian cricket fans deserve to know," Gavaskar told Star Sports.

Rohit has averaged 92 since moving to the top of the batting order in Test cricket, and his absence would leave India scrambling to find a partner for Mayank Agarwal. Prithvi Shaw, the exciting young opener who toured Australia in 2018 but injured his ankle prior to the series starting, would be one option.

Tasmanian Aboriginal community split over dual naming of places

Tasmanian Aboriginal community split over dual naming of places As regional Aboriginal community groups attempt to revive traditional place names, they are meeting resistance from the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre which says there is only one authentic Aboriginal language in Tasmania today. The last 14 dual names assigned in 2014 and 2016 came from palawa kani, but in 2016 the State Government reviewed its dual-naming policy to provide "greater community involvement and protection"."We have worked tirelessly to get an alphabet system that captures the original sounds of the original language," Ms Sculthorpe said."All this silly talk about restoring local Aboriginal languages, it's not true.

The India cricket team toured Australia from November 2018 to January 2019 to play four Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Initially, the Test match at the Adelaide Oval was planned to be a day/night fixture

Meanwhile, ESPNcricinfo reports fast-bowler Ishant is expected to be fit by the time of the Adelaide Test, which is scheduled to begin on December 17.

Earlier this month Ishant was ruled out of the IPL after tearing an abdominal muscle.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Sharma is expected to resume bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) on November 18, building up his workloads and hoping to be fully fit by the time of the Adelaide Test.

With fellow quick Bhuvneshwar Kumar also out injured, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra says the loss of Ishant would be a huge blow.

"A little worried about the fast-bowling resources in the absence of Ishant and Bhuvi," he tweeted.

Virat Kohli will captain the squad, with no mention by the BCCI of what might happen should his heavily pregnant wife give birth during the series.

The other notable omission is that of wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant from the white-ball squads, although he has been named in the Test squad.
