Edmund, as well as Seven's Tom Browne, have reported St Kilda are in the mix for the much-loved character.

Higgins burst onto the scene in 2018 after being taken with pick 17 in the 2017 draft.

He played 20 games that season, kicking 15 goals, including the Goal of the Year for his incredible around-the-effort.

The Oakleigh Chargers product's 2019 season was cut short when he was hospitalised with a brain bleed which required surgery last September.

He returned to the Richmond team following the League's restart from the coronavirus shutdown, but was unable to lock down a place in Damien Hardwick's best 22.

Higgins played 10 games in 2020, the last of which came in round 15.

If he does end up at Moorabbin, he'll likely join Adelaide midfielder Brad Crouch as new arrivals to the club, while delisted Bomber Shaun McKernan has also been linked to the Saints.

With one year to run on his deal, any team wishing to pick up Higgins will need to agree a trade with the Tigers.
