Sport McGuire plays down Treloar's contract stand-off

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire says he isn't concerned at the stand-off surrounding Adam Treloar's contract following reports the Magpies and Western Bulldogs were at a disagreement on the midfielder's deal.

It was revealed on Wednesday that Treloar's departure from Collingwood was proving to be trickier than first thought, with the Magpies reportedly at loggerheads with the Bulldogs over how much of the midfielder's $4.5 million mega-deal each club is willing to pay.

Veteran AFL journalist Damian Barrett reports both clubs are "as far apart as $200,000 a year on at least one season" of Treloar's five-season deal he initially signed with the Pies.

Formal paperwork for all trades is required within a week of the trade period concluding but it's understood the AFL has extended the deadline to this Friday for both teams to reach an agreement.

Responding to the stand-off between both clubs, McGuire said he was confident both parties would finalise Treloar's paperwork by Friday.

"The Dogs will remember those who stood by them when they had no friends and voted for them and looked after equalisation and things like that," he said jokingly on Triple M.
