Aussie boxing's current golden boy Tim Tszyu (17-0) will get back in the ring in March for a meeting with two-time world title challenger Dennis Hogan (28-3).

Hogan presents another big test for the 26-year-old as he sets his sights on fighting for a world title in 2021.

The bout is set for March 31, though the venue is yet to be confirmed.

The fight began to materialise after Tszyu's win over Morgan, with the Ireland-born Queenslander Hogan taking to social media to call out the victor.

"I have kept quiet about a possible fight with Tim Tszyu but here is my thoughts on it," he wrote on Facebook.

"Tim has done brilliant in his career so far and is very confident in his ability like I am.

"If the borders remain closed and Tim's World title fight has fallen through then let's do it.

"I know I beat Tim and he believes he beats me so let's prove who is the best Super Welterweight in Australia, if not then no problem.

"The winner moves into a world title shot."

Hogan, 35, has fought the vast majority of his career at super-welterweight, but most recently stepped up a division to take on WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo in December 2019.

"I really wanted a change": Dennis lands in Cologne

Hogan was stopped in the seventh round at Madison Square Garden, with issues around travel due to COVID-19 disrupting any hopes of a fight in 2020.

Earlier in 2019, he missed out on the chance to claim the WBO super-welterweight world title when he was robbed by the judges against Jaime Munguia.

Tszyu enjoyed a breakout year in 2020, putting on a stellar performance to beat Jeff Horn in Townsville in August, before stopping Bowyn Morgan in a little over a minute in Sydney.

The young star was aiming to fight for the WBO super welterweight title early this year when it looked as though current champion Patrick Teixeira would be stripped.

Those plans fell through in late December when Brazilian Teixeira was granted a visa to the United States to defend the belt against Brian Castano.

Tszyu is now ranked number two with the WBO and IBO, fourth with the IBF and seventh in the WBA.
