Meninga distances Titans from Smith move

Meninga distances Titans from Smith move Cooper Cronk claims Cameron Smith would have no issue playing in the NRL off a four-week pre-season, but Mal Meninga says it won't be at Gold Coast.Smith's future remains of the biggest talking point ahead of the season, with Cooper Cronk adamant Smith would still be a star off a four-week pre-season.

By his own admission, Cameron Smith has hit more balls in practice in the last fortnight than he has done all of last year which is giving him a new-found confidence.

And that could spell an ominous warning to his rivals at the WGC-Workday Championship where the world No.27 sits just one back off Brooks Koepka, who leads the tournament at 11-under after his 66.

The Queenslander matched Koepka's six-under score at The Concession to share second with Billy Horschel and Collin Morikawa midway through the tournament.

Broncos call on business tycoon to lure Smith

Broncos call on business tycoon to lure Smith The Brisbane Broncos have ramped up their efforts of signing Storm champion Cameron Smith.Talk of Smith landing at the Broncos has continued to gain momentum after Gold Coast Titans head of performance Mal Meninga last week confirmed his club wouldn't be chasing the three-time premiership player.

Smith finds himself in the mix again for the first time since his breakthrough victory in the Sony Open in Hawaii on January 12, and there's a good reason for it.

"Probably just got a little bit content there, thought everything was good," said Smith. "It was still decent, but it definitely wasn't my best stuff.

"The last few weeks I feel like I've probably done more practice in the last two weeks than I have the last year. Just goes to show what a little bit of hard work can do."

Smith is happy with his game, with his bogey on the 12th his only blemish to go with seven birdies on Friday.
