With Barcelona's three presidential candidates watching from the stands, it was the player who has never made a secret of wanting to be 'El Presidente' one day who scored one of the goals of Barcelona's season - in the last breath of injury time - to help his team reach the Spanish Cup final.

Gerard Pique's 94th minute header made it 2-0 on the night and 2-2 on aggregate to take the game into extra-time, where Martin Braithwaite headed the winner five minutes later.

It was no more than Barcelona deserved, after one of their best performances since Ronald Koeman took over last summer.

Ousmane Dembele gave them the perfect start. Starting at centre-forward for the second game running, he fired three shots goalwards in the first 10 minutes.

They were wild and off-target but Dembele is not the type of player who will shy away from trying a fourth time having failed three times. He rifled into the roof of the net from the edge of area and Barça had their early goal after just 12 minutes.

With Messi tracking back to full-back position to help out the defence and Pedri tireless in midfield, Barcelona played with belief and intensity from the first kick.

Barcelona pulled off a stirring comeback from two goals down to beat Sevilla 3 - 0 after extra-time in their Copa del Rey semi- final second leg, winning 3 - 2 on aggregate. Danish forward Martin Braithwaite grabbed the decisive goal with a scrappy diving header early in the extra period after Ousmane Dembele had given Barca the lead in the 12th minute and Gerard Pique had levelled the tie deep in added time, moments after Fernando had been sent off for Sevilla . Sevilla , who won the first leg at home 2-0, deployed uncharacteristically negative tactics yet they wasted a glorious chance to make it

Sevilla were hanging on but they managed to keep Barça at bay the rest of the half and had a chance on the break. Luuk de Jong beat the offside trap but not Marc-Andre ter Stegen who was quicker off his line than the Dutch striker was in finishing.

Sevilla were first to make second half changes. Ivan Rakitic came on against his old team and Karim Rekik and Jesus Navas joined him with Luuk de Jong, Marcos Acuna and Aleix Vidal coming off.

It didn't change the pattern of the game which was now being played almost exclusively in Sevilla's half.

But there was no breakthrough and Koeman turned to Antoine Griezmann just after the hour mark.

Dembele was finding no space through the middle so went back out to the right wing, with Griezmann now at centre forward.

The move brought almost instant results.

Dembele got to the byline and flipped his cross to Jordi Alba arriving in the box with a flying volley that smacked the crossbar.

They almost paid for the miss when Sevilla's first decent break ended in a penalty.

New Barcelona president Laporta launches bid to keep Lionel Messi

New Barcelona president Laporta launches bid to keep Lionel Messi Messi's future was a major issue on the campaign trail and Laporta regularly said that he would be able to convince the club's main man to stay put if he were to win the election. Messi wanted to leave the club last summer but his wishes were denied by the previous regime and speculation has since mounted over a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City when his contract expires this summer.

Sevilla substitute Lucas Ocampos was flattened by Oscar Mingueza, and referee Jose Maria Sanchez pointed to the spot.

Ter Stegen bounced up and down the line filling the goal and doing his best to intimidate Ocampos, whose record from the spot at Sevilla was 11 out of 11.

Ter Stegen got down well to his right and just stopped the kick going under his body.

Barcelona were still alive and needing one goal to take the semi-final to extra-time.

Koeman put on 18-year-old Ilaix Moriba and now had a midfield three of an 18, 20 and 21-year-old.

In those last desperate minutes Ocampos appeared to save a Messi shot falling on the ball with the use of an arm in the area - but the appeals were waved away.

That was surely their last chance but everything changed at the start of injury time.

Fernando was sent off for pulling back substitute Francisco Trincao on the edge of the area and although Messi couldn't convert the free-kick, Pique was now at permanent auxiliary centre forward and when Griezmann nodded the ball across the six-yard box to him, he headed past Tomas Vaclik.

Sevilla were furious that a possible Clement Lenglet handball in the area in extra-time was waved away before goal hero Pique hobbled off with an injury to the same right knee that he chose not to operate on earlier in the season.

He hobbled back on to the pitch for the last few minutes.

Barcelona have been hobbling as a club for most of the season but after this epic display they are in the Copa del Rey final, where they will face either Athletic Bilbao or Levante.

Their three presidential candidates - sat one seat apart from each other - were left smiling in the stand and, grimacing through his knee injury, so was Pique.
