South Sydney halfback Adam Reynolds is in the middle of a bitter standoff following a report the Rabbitohs are lessening his value to rival teams, with his future at Redfern still clouded beyond this season.

Reynolds, 30, is currently at loggerheads with the Rabbitohs over the length of a contract extension, which could see the skipper walk to the Cowboys if a new deal isn't agreed upon.

It's understood South Sydney officials are refusing to budge on a one-year deal that has already been tabled to Reynolds, who is looking for a multi-year contract.

According to Nine's NRL reporter, Danny Weidler, Reynolds has been left feeling disgruntled by his club's actions.

"There's growing anger from Reynolds that Souths are trying to lessen his value by implying he has ongoing injury issues," Weidler told Nine News Sydney.

"Long time football manager, Mark Ellison, will need to deal with that when he meets with Reynolds' agent tomorrow."

Reynolds' teammate Josh Mansour weighed in on the contract standoff and said he was "really confident" everything would eventually work out.

"I'm not going to come out and selfishly say I want him to stay," Mansour said.

"He's got a young family and he needs what's best for himself and them.

"At the end of the day, I'm really confident it's going to work out."
