Move over Mac?
Justin Fields is having a second pro day on April 14, giving teams a second opportunity to scout and visit with the Ohio State quarterback. The 49ers, who had a presence at Fields' first pro day that didn't include head coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch, are expected to be in attendance for the event.
To make matters more interesting, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Lynch and Shanahan are both expected to be in attendance

MORE: Who the 49ers are taking in the latest NFL Mock Draft
Intriguing, to say the least. If pre-draft speculation is to be believed, Fields has fallen from QB2 to questionable top 10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the 49ers, sitting at the No. 3 overall pick, have been rumored to be hot after Alabama quarterback Mac Jones.
The 49ers brain trust missed out on Fields' first pro day while at Alabama's pro day, scouting Crimson Tide talent, including Jones. Analysts believe that Fields' all-world athleticism and production out of Ohio State have him firmly ahead of Alabama's Jones.
San Francisco made the first huge move of the 2021 draft cycle, trading all the way up to No. 3 from No. 12, giving them a shot at drafting at least one of the top five quarterbacks, a list that includes Jones, Fields, BYU's Zach Wilson, Clemson's Trevor Lawrence and North Dakota State's Trey Lance.
Lawrence and Wilson are expected to go 1-2 to the Jaguars and Jets, respectively, leaving the 49ers with the rampant speculation that they traded up for Jones over Fields.
Now, with a second visit to see Fields, the conversation for who's going at No. 3 just got more interesting.
