Jesse Lingard's goalscoring heroics at West Ham are set to hit Mark Noble's wallet hard after a bet made between the two team-mates in January.

Noble, who put his money where his mouth is when loanee Lingard arrived from Manchester United, joked he will now have to splash out after the win over Leicester.

The agreement will force Noble to take up the bill for Lingard to enjoy a lavish one-night stay at a five-star hotel in central London and also revel in a night out.

Lingard has breathed new life into West Ham's unlikely Champions League push - and the three points against fellow challengers Leicester saw them take back fourth.

Is in-form Lingard forcing his way back into Man Utd’s plans? Jesse Lingard has nine goal involvements since debuting for West Ham and Gary Neville thinks he may now have a Man Utd future. After collecting the ball in his own half at Molineux, Lingard carried the ball into the Wolves box, surging clear of Leander Dendoncker and Romain Saiss before beating Rui Patricio with a left-footed finish.

The in-form forward netted twice more in the capital, taking him to the magic target and causing Noble to jokingly admit the brace will cost him 'a few quid'.

He told West Ham's in-house media channel: 'As much as Jesse’s goals were fantastic, I had a bet with him when he first came to the club that if he scored eight goals, I’d pay for a night out for him and a stay in the Corinthia Hotel.

The hotel chosen by Noble is fashionably upmarket and based in Westminster. Rooms at the swanky establishment all appear to be upwards of £400 per night.

Lingard's first-half double underlined his spectacular return to form, which was rewarded with a return to the England set-up after his two-year absence.

ESPN have sensationally claimed today that Lingard is being monitored by several top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Sportsmail, however, understands that West Ham are keen to launch a bid to turn the 28-year-old's stay into a permanent one.

It is also believed that there is concern at the London Stadium that United will demand an exorbitant amount for their born-again playmaker.

Lingard has just one year left to run on his United deal and was frozen out by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a series of uninspiring performances.

But, with Lingard running the show after his move away, the signs point towards West Ham pushing to secure a spot at the top table, just like United, for next season.

They currently sit fourth in the standings, one point ahead of Chelsea and three clear of champions Liverpool, with seven games left.
