West, who won a club-record seven best-and-fairest gongs and earned five All Australian blazers in a 324-game career, slammed Beveridge for axing Rhylee for Sunday's clash with Carlton.

"That's how you manage young players. Yep he is my son but seriously you make him wait for 5 weeks, all of excellent form and stats in the VFL.

"You play him against the best team of the last 5 years and yep, didn't play well, BUT, then you drop him.

"Absolutely disgraceful management!!!"

West also took aim at Beveridge's continued selection of Jason Johannisen, who had managed just five disposals in the game against Richmond.

"It's not personal against JJ, BUT, 3 possessions??? Are you serious????" West wrote.

"Let me add Josh Schache to this argument, poor kid gets kicked in the guts by everyone, apparently it is his and Rhylee's fault they lost last week."

Despite West's spray, Beveridge appears to be doing a fine job in his seventh season as the Bulldogs' coach.

The Dogs lost just one of their first eight games, against reigning premiers Richmond, and are sitting in second on the ladder.

They are now set for a heavyweight duel with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
