The 29-year-old needed urgent CRP treatment after going down unchallenged during the first-half of the match in Copenhagen, leaving his team-mates, his wife Sabrina Kvist and Denmark's supporters in tears on the pitch.

Eriksen was seen sitting up whilst being carried off the stadium and the Danish FA have confirmed that he has been stabilised in hospital.

His agent, Martin Schoots, says he is able to breathe and talk while Peter Moller, technical director of Denmark, told Danish TV that he has spoken to the rest of the squad.

Denmark's players formed a circle around Eriksen to protect his privacy while the midfielder was being resuscitated on the Copenhagen pitch.

The match was temporarily called off just after 6pm and minutes later, Eriksen was seen sitting up whilst being stretchered off whilst wearing an oxygen mask.

When news emerged that the midfielder was in a 'stabilised' condition, both Denmark and Finland players agreed to complete the game at 7.30pm UK time.

Another statement from the Danish FA read: 'Christian Eriksen is AWAKE and is undergoing further examinations at Rigshospitalet.

'The match against Finland will be played tonight (Saturday). This happens after the players have been confirmed that Christian is okay. The match resumes at 20.30.'

UEFA confirmed that both sets of players wanted the game to resume on Saturday night.
