Toby Alderweireld 's mooted departure from Tottenham is nearing ever closer after the club accepted a £ 13 m offer from Al-Duhail in Qatar. The Belgium international has been a brilliant servant for Spurs since moving to north London in 2015. Despite having been a regular in the starting lineup for the majority of his Tottenham career, the 32-year-old is seemingly being eased out of his side 's first-team plans. He's subsequently informed the club of his desire to move on this summer, and The Telegraph report that he could be on the verge of doing just after Spurs accepted a £ 13 m bid from Al-Duhail.

Tottenham have reportedly agreed a £13million deal for Toby Alderweireld to join Qatar side Al-Duhail.

The 32-year-old centre-back has been at the club for six seasons after his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2015.

Spurs are trying to negotiate a deal for Atalanta defender Cristian Romero as new manager Nuno Espirito Santo looks to reshape the team's defence.

The Telegraph have reported that Alderweireld is close to joining the Qatar-based side and the move is subject to the player agreeing personal terms and flying to the Middle East to complete a medical.

New Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo has sanctioned the transfer as he looks to revamp his backline. City have no intention of meeting the eye-watering valuation — well over double their current transfer record — to sign Pep Guardiola’s No 1 target. Yet they hope Kane’s burning desire to move , and Spurs’ need for cash, will prove decisive. Meanwhile, Chelsea starlet Dujon Sterling could be set for a first-team

The Belgian defender only has one year remaining on his contract at Tottenham . Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to do business on Alderweireld who has one year left on deal . Zaniolo has been among Pochettino's top targets for weeks and, despite Roma's reluctance to sell the 20-year-old midfielder they could be tempted if bids moved above £ 40m. Interest in Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose has failed to materialise as Tottenham hoped it would.

Alderweireld has just one year left on his current Tottenham deal and is looking to leave the club, while Tottenham would prefer not to lose him for nothing next year.

Belgian side Royal Antwerp had an approach turned down earlier in the summer which would have seen the Belgian centre-back return to his hometown, where he played before joining Ajax's youth set-up.

While Inter had reportedly agreed a deal with Bayern's Chile midfielder, Barca could once more jump in to hijack the move as they did to Roma for former Bordeaux attacker Malcom. Despite Gonzalo Higuain being near a move to AC Milan, Chelsea are not ready to give up the chase for the Argentine forward just yet, reports the Mirror. The Premier League side believe Higuain has balked at a loan move to Milan. The Blues are actively trying to offload Olivier Giroud to Marseille, which would give the club the cash to match any offer from Milan.

While he would be leaving one of the biggest leagues in Europe, it won't necessarily harm his chances of making the Belgian team.

Manager Roberto Martinez continues to pick Thomas Vermaelen who is currently in Japan and the Spaniard continued to include Yannick Carrasco during his spell in China.

Alderweireld has played 243 games since joining Tottenham, helping them reach the final of the Champions League in 2019 when they were defeated by Liverpool in Madrid.
