25 years after Ilke Wyludda, Kristin Pudenz has recovered an Olympic medal for Germany in discus throw. The German master, who had always had problems with the Achilles tendon this year, won in the rain choos with a new best performance of 66.86 meters sensational silver and then shot tears of joy. It was at the same time the first German athletics medal in Tokyo.

gold went in the Olympic Stadium of the Japanese metropolis to Valarie Allman from the USA, Bronze Holted Yaime Perez (Cuba). Eighth was Marike Steinacker (Leverkusen), Claudine Vita (Neubrandenburg) left in the advance. The Kroatin Sandra Perkovic, Olympic Champion of 2012 and 2016, missed a medal as fourth (65.01).
