Manchester United are reportedly prepared to compete with Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich for the signing of Dani Olmo.

The RB Leipzig attacking midfielder, who is valued at £60million, was heavily linked with Barca this summer and was reportedly the subject of a £50m bid by the Catalan giants on transfer deadline day, which Leipzig turned down.

Now, according to MARCA, it appears that United and Bundesliga champions Bayern have joined the race for the Spain international, who could leave as soon as January, with Leipzig open to letting one of their prize assets leave if a big bid comes in.

The former Dinamo Zagreb man, who was at Barca's famous La Masia academy between 2007 and 2014, was said to be delighted at the prospect of returning to the club before Leipzig pulled the plug on a deal as they weren't able to find a replacement so late in the window.

Olmo's versatility makes him a very nice option to have as, in addition to being an attacking midfielder, he can also play out wide, in a two-man forward line or as an attack-minded player in a four- or five-man midfield.

Manchester United have an embarrassment of riches when you look at their attacking options as a whole, but other than Bruno Fernandes, they have don't have anyone who is able to step up and operate in that No 10 role.

While Olmo may have strong ties to Barca, but the 23-year-old was managed during the previous two seasons by Bayern's current boss Julian Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann returned to his former stomping ground on Saturday, recording a 4-1 win as Olmo came up against former team-mates Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer, who both crossed the divide with their 34-year-old boss this summer.

Barca's significant financial problems may make a move for Olmo unfeasible, especially if Leipzig hike up the asking price, while Juve would appreciate another attacking option in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United.

After finishing last season with five Bundesliga goals and 10 assists last season - as well as three assists in the Euro 2020 knockout stages - Olmo it was in the form of his life. The race for his signature will be intriguing.
