Supercars CEO Seamer has now confirmed that the Bathurst finale concept is indeed on the table, although a final decision won't be made until after the Townsville double-header at the end of this month. “That's certainly a consideration," Seamer said. "I think the thing that’s at the forefront of our minds is the amount of time that our people, teams, TV, our partners and suppliers are spending away from their families is taking its toll, so that is a consideration. “We are looking at that as part of our planning, but there’s four or five different scenario plans that we’ll execute under a range of

A Bathurst sprint round is firming as the season opener for Supercars in 2021. Mount Panorama has emerged as the clear favourite to host next season's opener, following confirmation that Adelaide 500 will be moved to later in the year. A single-driver sprint event at the iconic circuit would either replace, or run Adelaide's chances of securing the season finale may rest with the fate of the Newcastle street race. Supercars boss Sean Seamer has confirmed that Supercars will return to Mount Panorama next February. It's long been rumoured that Bathurst will host the 2021 season opener, Supercars effectively replacing the Bathurst 12 Hour, which is unlikely to go ahead thanks to Australia's closed borders. "Get home safely, enjoy some down time with your families. We'll get back here to Bathurst in February." Supercars traditionally opens its season with the Adelaide 500, however the South Aussie capital will instead host the season finale next season.

Organisers say discussions are ongoing with the four other events that are due to feature on the calendar prior to the Bathurst 1000.

Bathurst Mayor Ian North believes fans will be treated to a unique experience to cap off the 2021 season.

"The events, over six days, will be something not seen before at the Mount and will be a great way to see racing return to Bathurst in 2021," he said.

An announcement on the other four Supercars rounds for 2021 is expected to be made later this week.
