A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Adele’s new album is the most highly-anticipated record of the year. It’s been a long time coming but her label wants it released before Christmas and have their sights set on a performance in Vegas. "Adele and her management have been in talks with BBC America about broadcasting it around the world. This will be one of few performances as part of her promotional tour.

More than 20 years after her professional debut, Kim Clijsters will be back on court again tomorrow in her latest comeback bid.

Clijsters will face Taiwan's Hsieh Su-Wei in the opening round of the WTA event in Chicago tomorrow, in an attempt to claim her first win since 2012.

The Belgian returned to professional tennis last year after an eight-year lay-off, but lost all three matches she played, including in the opening round of the US Open to Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova.

She recently played an exhibition match against Sloane Stephens at the Atlanta Open, which she lost 6-4, 6-4.

Clijsters first appeared in a major back in 1999, making a run to the last 16 at Wimbledon. She was quickly adopted by Australian crowds in the early 2000s thanks to her relationship with Lleyton Hewitt, with media and fans dubbing her 'Aussie Kim'.

After winning her first major at the 2005 US Open, she first retired from the sport after the 2007 Australian Open to raise a family. She returned to the court in 2009 and won two more US Opens, before claiming her fourth and final major in Melbourne in 2011.

She would retire again the following year.

Clijsters turned 38 in June, which means if she were to somehow win the tournament she would pip Serena Williams (38 years, 3 months, 17 days) as the third-oldest woman to win a WTA event.

Kimiko Date-Krumm was a month shy of her 39th birthday when she won the 2008 Korea Open, and Billie Jean King was less than six months away from turning 40 when she won the 1983 Edgbaston Cup (now called the Birmingham Classic) .
