Tyrone May's future at Penrith will be determined next week when the club board meets to discuss the utility's recent breach notice.

The 25-year-old premiership winner was issued with a breach notice and a proposed $7500 fine by the NRL today, "for posting and being part of social media posts which do not align with the values of the game".

May came under fire after taking to Instagram to celebrate Penrith's grand final win, with the content he posted referencing his recent legal case. He pleaded guilty to four counts of intentionally recording an image without consent last year and narrowly avoided jail time, with his NRL career saved when the Panthers decided to keep him.

In response to the NRL's breach notice, the Panthers announced May had been "stood down from all club-related duties and appearances until further notice".

The club also confirmed his future will be decided at a Penrith Board of Directors meeting.

Nine News' rugby league reporter Danika Mason revealed the meeting will take place next week.

"I spoke to the Panthers today and they say May's future is likely to be decided at a board meeting next week," Mason told Nine News Sydney.

Meanwhile, the NRL also handed down breach notices to skipper Nathan Cleary and star outside back Stephen Crichton.

After the NRL's iconic Provan-Summons trophy was damaged, the duo came under scrutiny when images on social media appeared of the broken trophy being mocked and placed into a pram.
