Khawaja: I don't have a problem with spin Usman Khawaja is unfazed by his poor Test record against spin bowling as Australia prepare for the second Test against England.Khawaja fell to English spinner Moeen Ali in the Ashes opener in Brisbane, continuing his rough patch against slow bowlers.

While previous tours have included the sort of onstage banter local fans may have expected, she has covered her face and used Ziegler in live performances throughout the Nostalgic for the Present tour , which began in North America in September last year. A tiny cut is fast becoming a big worry for England, with Moeen Ali unable to find any bowling rhythm in a country unforgiving for finger spinners at the best of times.

Moeen, who suffered a side strain at the start of the tour and remains bothered by a blister on his spinning finger, won't bowl while captaining England in this weekend's tour game at Perth's Richardson Park.

The allrounder was talked up as one of their most potent threats after a productive home summer but has taken two wickets at 98 in the Test series.

Khawaja not bothered by spin troubles

Khawaja not bothered by spin troubles Australia batsman Usman Khawaja says he is not bothered after once again being dismissed cheaply by a spinner in the first Ashes Test in Brisbane. Questions about the left-hander's technique to slow-bowling has again resurfaced after he was bowled by Moeen Ali after facing only two balls from the England off-spinner at the Gabba. It was the 12th time in 39 innings that Khawaja has been dismissed by an off-spinner in the longest format with his form in Asia, averaging 14.62 after five Tests, not helping his case.

If Moeen is unable to bowl tighter spells in the third Ashes Test starting at the WACA on Thursday it will go a long way to Australia reclaiming the urn.

Offspinners have generally found Australia a terribly unproductive place to tour. Ravichandran Ashwin struggled during India's most recent visit, while Graeme Swann famously retired mid-series four years ago.

The most notable exception in the past 50 years was Geoff Miller, England's leading wicket-taking in their Ashes success of 1978-79 against an Australian side severely weakened by the launch of World Series Cricket.

John Davison, Nathan Lyon's mentor who is coaching the Cricket Australia XI this weekend, isn't surprised by Moeen's muddled form.

Lyon tops Test wicket-takers this year

Lyon tops Test wicket-takers this year Australian spinner Nathan Lyon is the most successful bowler in Test cricket this year.Lyon claimed four English wickets on Monday in the second Test in Adelaide, taking his tally to 55 for the year.

He also stated that Australia again hope to end careers, just as they did on the 2013‑14 tour Root, who played club cricket in Adelaide with Lyon before either had graduated to the international game, will be watched particularly closely by Australia after he endured a tough first Ashes tour four years ago.

"Finger spinners in general struggle in Australian conditions. It's a really tough place to bowl," Davison said.

"Having that finger injury has made it pretty difficult for him.

"He's just missed his lengths a bit."

The limited amount of turn on offer in Australia is partly to blame for the trend but the aggression of local batsmen is also key.

Australia have made no secret of their ploy to hit Moeen out of the attack, wanting Joe Root to overwork his pacemen.

"When Australian batsmen see the opportunity to go after a spinner, they'll really target that," Davison said.

"It's something that Darren Lehmann definitely encourages our batsmen to do."

Moeen is upbeat his wounded finger will be close to 100 per cent come the third Test.

"I ripped it in the first game and it's not been easy ... I need a bit more time for healing," he said.

Following a report on Friday about Nathan Lyon’s personal life, English cricket fans took full advantage and did their best to get inside the Australian spinner’s head with a low blow. According to the Daily Mail, Lyon has started seeing another woman following the breakdown of a long-term relationship with the mother of his two children.Lyon reportedly broke up with Mel Waring more than a year ago and has taken up a new relationship with a Perth-based real estate agent named Emma McCarthy. © AAP Image Nathan Lyon. The off-spinner was also apparently seen kissing McCarthy in a car before the third Test.
