Atletico fans unfurl Ronaldo 'not welcome' banner amid transfer links

Atletico fans unfurl Ronaldo 'not welcome' banner amid transfer links Atletico Madrid fans have expressed their feelings towards the potential signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, with banners unfurled during a pre-season friendly. Atletico Madrid have ruled out a move for Ronaldo, along with Bayern Munich, but that didn't stop some supporters displaying banners as third-tier Numancia were beaten 4-0 at the Estadio Municipal de El Burgo de Osma on Wednesday.

Ronaldo's first season of his second spell at Old Trafford didn't go at all to plan - although he scored 24 goals, United failed to challenge for any silverware and changed managers mid-season.

It led to Ronaldo informing the club he would like to leave this summer if a suitable offer came in, despite having one year remaining on his contract.

Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are among the leading European clubs who have ruled out a move for him, while Ronaldo rejected a highly lucrative offer from a Saudi Arabian club.

Now Real Madrid can also be struck off the list of suitors, which is dwindling rapidly with the new campaign looming.
