Supermassive Black Holes Grow Faster In Larger Galaxies

Supermassive Black Holes Grow Faster In Larger Galaxies The rate of growth of the biggest supermassive black holes in the universe is much faster than the rate at which new stars are born in the massive galaxies that host them. When it came to growth, it was thought that supermassive black holes that lie at the centers of most galaxies accumulated mass at roughly the same pace at which new stars were being born in those galaxies. But two new studies have shown that the largest supermassive black holes (with masses billions of times the sun) which reside in some of the most massive galaxies in the universe grow much faster than the rate at which those galaxies form new stars.

David de Gea produced a string of fine saves to help a lacklustre Manchester United hold Sevilla to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in Seville.

The early introduction of Paul Pogba, who replaced the injured Ander Herrera, had little influence as Sevilla dominated for large swathes of the opening period, but the hosts were denied time and again by the brilliance of De Gea.

Newcastle Jets coach Ernie Merrick in hot water for slamming officials

Newcastle Jets coach Ernie Merrick in hot water for slamming officials Newcastle Jets coach Ernie Merrick could find himself in hot water for post-match comments slamming the performance of officials during his team's 2-2 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers on Friday night. In yet another match marred by farcical use of the Video Assistant Referee that brought play to a lengthy standstills on three occasions, the Wanderers were awarded a controversial penalty for a Jets handball from a deflection. Merrick lashed out at the handling of the contest by officials and joined the chorus of football figures arguing that the VAR is turning fans away from football games.

SEVILLE, Feb 22 — David de Gea deflected the attention away from Paul Pogba with another spectacular display of goalkeeping as Manchester United came away from their Champions League last 16, first leg against Sevilla in Spain with a 0-0 draw yesterday.

David de Gea was at his brilliant best as Manchester United fought out a 0-0 draw at Sevilla in the Champions League. Muriel closes his eyes as he holds onto the post after being denied at point blank range by Manchester United 's star man .

Romelu Lukaku did have the ball in the back of the net in the second half, but it was ruled out for handball as United continued their wretched record against Spanish sides, having scored just seven goals in their last 15 Champions League encounters against Spanish opposition.
