"That's done. That's absolutely everything that I had," Fearnley said in the post-race interview after being asked if it would be his last appearance on the track.

Fearnley said he'd be looking forward to passing the baton to younger teammate Jake Lappin, who took bronze in the event.

"We're doing it as a team ... so I think tomorrow maybe we can go back to work, and speak to your co-workers about getting more people with disabilities in there, or your education facilities, or into your public transport. This right here is a success, and let's remind ourselves of that and what our real purpose is."
