“I’d like to thank the player’s agent for all his help as well as Marwan Koukash who has honoured his pledge to support the club with the acquisition of a player."

The club's coach, Ian Watson, echoed Blease's sentiments in regard to the signing of Hastings.

“He’s a huge talent with huge potential. The fact Trent Robinson let Maloney leave the Roosters so Jackson could partner Mitchell Pearce shows his level of quality," Watson added.

“Obviously there were numerous Super League clubs chasing him and we are delighted he has chosen to come to us.

"Hopefully together we can restart Jackson’s first grade career.

“He has been the guy we have been missing in terms of organisation and kicking game.

"He’s looking forward to getting over here and getting stuck in."

Hastings was released by the Sea Eagles last month after playing just 13 games for the club.

The 22-year-old reportedly had a scuffle with Manly captain Daly Cherry-Evans at the team's hotel following their round five clash against the Gold Coast Titans at Gladstone.

As a result, Hastings was dropped to reserve grade, and had been on the outer with Sea Eagles hierarchy ever since, which ultimately led to the decision to grant him a release.

Was this the day the Roosters finally clicked into gear? .
The Roosters broke records, broke hearts, broke up the Manly old boys party, broke the minor premiership race wide open. But they've won nothing yet. This star-studded team was only ever going to be judged on how they fare in the September soiree, not against a team whose coach barely bothered to speak to his players at half-time, he was that flummoxed. All year the elephant in the room has been: just when are the Roosters finally going to click into top gear? Well, this might have been the answer.
