AFL great Garry Lyon believes fallen West Coast star Ben Cousins needs to serve time behind bars in order to turn his life around after his most recent arrest.

The 40-year-old spent the night locked up and was denied bail after sending death threats to his ex-partner while armed with a screwdriver before police uncovered 13 grams of ice in his possession.

Lyon is confident prison is where the former Brownlow Medallist belongs and justice must be served for his violent rampage.

“It’s just wrong and sad and tragic from his point of view,” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.
