Martin did some run-throughs on the ground but didn’t join the main group.

To make matters worse for the reigning premier,s, small forward Daniel Rioli was sent to have scans on a finger he damaged during the intensive training run.

Before he left, Rioli told the AFL website Martin was nursing an injury he sustained during the Tigers’ qualifying win over Hawthorn.

"He’ll be right, just a little corkie, he got hit (against the Hawks)," Rioli said.

Rioli said he was going for scans after jarring his finger at training, but it wasn’t a major concern.

“I’m just getting a little check-up, nothing too important, but I’ll be right for next week.”

Richmond’s head of football Neil Balme confirmed Martin wasn’t in danger of missing next Friday night’s preliminary final against the winner of this week’s clash between Collingwood and Greater Western Sydney.

"(There's) nothing wrong with him. He did exactly what was planned for him," Balme said.

“They’re all on their own programs. If they train together, it’s more of a coincidence than anything else.”
