Not all Gmail and Google Drive users are experiencing the outage, however. We can confirm that at the time of writing the Gizmodo inbox was working just fine.

Google has issued a statement at 1:53pm saying, "We’re investigating reports of an issue with Gmail. We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behaviour."

Google is yet to divulge the reason for the outages or when they are likely to be resolved.

A similar outage was experienced at the end of January. If you didn't notice, that may be because it happened in the late evening and was relatively short-lived.
