Google confirmed quite a while ago that its popular email app, Inbox by Gmail, would be shutting down sometime in Spring of 2019. The company neglected to confirm a specific date, however. Today, that date has been confirmed. Inbox by Gmail shuts down on April 2nd.

Inbox By Google Will Shut Down On April 3

Back in September Google announced that it would be 'sunsetting' Inbox by Gmail.

Now we have a hard date on when that will be.

Inbox will be disappearing on April 3 in Australia, thus following in the discontinued footsteps of Google+ and Google Wave.

Users found out this week via a notification that urged them to switch over the Gmail app. It stated that, "This app will be going away in 15 days" but also assured people that they could find their favourite Inbox features over on the Gmail app.

Launched in 2014, Inbox allowed users to do some extra fancy things that the ordinary Gmail originally did not, such as folder bundling, snoozing emails and smart replies.

Many of the Inbox features were incorporated into Gmail during its 2018 revamp, which most likely made the existence of the second app redundant in the eyes of Google.
