A team from Salt Lake County Search and Rescue raced into action to bring down the large male Mastiff which weighed 190 pounds (86kgs). 

The three-year-old dog became trapped with its owner after becoming injured along a trail. 

Several hikers ended up calling the police to report the dog was stuck and unable to move.

 Rescue crews headed up the trail to make sure Floyd could be brought off the mountain before the weather got too cold. 

He was placed into a litter tray and then stretchered off the mountain around 10:30pm. 

'Floyd was a good boy and happy to be assisted,' according to a posting on Facebook that detailed the recovery. 'Hopefully, Floyd will be up and hiking again soon!'
