Uber CEO backtracks after calling Khashoggi death 'a mistake' Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi backtracked on Sunday after he told "Axios on HBO" that the death of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi was a "mistake."It's a serious mistake. [But] you know, we've made mistakes too," Khosrowshahi, referring to the murder of Khashoggi, said in an interview aired Sunday evening. "People make mistakes, it doesn't mean they can never be forgiven. I think they've taken it seriously....

Uber CEO Regrets Calling Murder of Saudi Journalist a 'Mistake'

Uber CEO Regrets Calling Murder of Saudi Journalist a 'Mistake' Chief Executive Dara Khosrowshahi said he regretted calling the murder of Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi a “mistake” in a recent video interview. The interview with media outlet Axios aired on HBO Sunday, and Mr. Khosrowshahi’s comment came in response to being asked whether H.E. Yasir Al-Rumayyan, managing director of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, should be re-elected to Uber’s board in the wake of the murder. The fund is Uber’s fifth-largest shareholder. Mr. Al-Rumayyan has been a board member since June 2016.

Andrews Silence Explains His Epstein Relationship Made Him Very Wealthy With 'Special He ' s relying on the MSM giving him a free pass,so don' t you think it ' s time you started being journalists for a change&report truth. It wasn’ t a mistake to him as he got all the young sex slaves he could handle.

Prince Andrew had the chance to say his relationship with Epstein was a mistake - but he didn ' t . Nicola said : "We have a shortage of trained nurses and more people than ever to care for. An NHS spokesperson said they won't comment on funding issues during an election period.

But inside the palace, and from the duke himself, there was a belief that the time had come for Prince Andrew to use his own voice to explain what had gone on with Jeffrey Epstein, with a hope that if we heard it from him, if we saw the whites of his eyes, then maybe the negative narrative that has continued to swirl would start to go away.

What unfolded in that interview was jaw-dropping.

This was not a politician-style interview about hitting certain key messages.

The prince wanted it to be that way, with no script or prepared soundbites.

The palace wanted his answers to be from the heart, showing him as a man who had the guts to answer the most direct of questions.

I was astonished at how long the palace allowed the interview to run for.

I understand they wanted to give him time to cover four main areas: his friendship with Epstein, why he went to visit him in 2010, the allegations from Virginia Roberts-Giuffre and the impact it's had on his family and his work.

He said that was factually impossible because he had a medical condition at the time that meant he didn ’ t sweat. The prince said the condition stemmed But it was his failure to show compassion for Epstein’ s victims that earned Andrew the most scorn. “Astonished nation watches prince squirm,’’ the

But as the time ticked on, the interview unravelled and exposed the prince, as every word and facial expression was laid out there for the public to interpret.

There were genuine hand-over-your-mouth moments.

The fact that he doesn't sweat is something I have been told before, and we've previously heard the claims that the photo with Virginia Roberts-Giuffre may have been faked.

His recollection of a trip to Pizza Express in Woking was his reason for never being in Tramp nightclub with the 17-year-old but it did sound bizarre.

While those details may be what everyone is talking about, the most damaging aspect was his failure to say that he regrets his friendship with Epstein.

On two occasions he was asked, he had the chance to say it was a mistake, but he didn't.

The palace has repeatedly said they weren't close friends, that he didn't know about any of Epstein's criminal activities, and that his contact with Epstein was less about a friendship and more about the contacts Prince Andrew made through the billionaire as he was leaving the military and wanted to build his knowledge for his role as a UK trade envoy.

Bogut open to NBA return if situation is right

Bogut open to NBA return if situation is right Andrew Bogut has left the door open for another stint in the NBA later this season, but the Sydney Kings star won't be heading back to America "for the sake" of it.Bogut successfully split his time between the NBL and NBA last season, helping the Kings make the playoffs before linking up with the Golden State Warriors for their push towards a fifth consecutive NBA finals series, which they lost to Toronto.

She asked him , even begged him to be there, THINKING he might just say yes but then not turn up. Nowadays, the Trans-Siberian Railway gives Russians and foreign travellers the chance to see an This is ( SPECIAL ) true for children who grow up in cities and never have much of a chance to

ANDREW had “no recollection” of Virginia Roberts and did not notice young women at Epstein’ s home because staff members walk around “all the time” The Duke claims it was 'almost impossible' for him to perspire but he was said to have been sweating after leaving a London club in 2000Credit: Blitz.

That justification for many simply isn't good enough when you're talking about your links with a convicted sex offender.

I was watching closely to see how he handled the allegations made by Virginia Roberts-Giuffre.

He has categorically denied meeting her and said the claims they had sex are false and without foundation.

Because of this it's understandable that he wouldn't want to be seen to apologise to Roberts and we were never going to see him saying sorry.

But there has been surprise that the duke failed to show empathy or sympathy for any of Epstein's victims, another aspect of this interview that did not play well.

Since it aired, the debate has raged about why on earth would he decide to talk.

Prince Andrew wanted to do it. His other advisers wanted him to. And the Queen knew about it.

They wanted to show a brave man who had the guts to open himself up to an interview with no conditions attached. A man who was rock solid consistent on his recollections.

Press freedom report delayed to Christmas

Press freedom report delayed to Christmas A parliamentary committee examining how the media operates under security and secrecy laws has been given a fortnight's extension to reach a bipartisan stance. The intelligence and security committee will now report in the week starting December 16, after being granted a fortnight's extension.

Senior royal officials have privately lambasted the interview as a ‘monumental’ mistake , saying it But he had the most extraordinary ability to bring extraordinary people together and that’ s the bit ‘ Andrew said he would follow the advice of his lawyers on this decision. If he has nothing to hide and

Andrew has never enjoyed the company of journalists, and always kept the press firmly at arm’ s length. Doing something so public is a high-risk The Duke went on to question the validity of a photograph with his arm around Ms Giuffre in London – saying it was not possible to prove if the image had , or

They wanted us all to see it, believe it and let him get on with his work.

A couple of weeks ago I went to one of the duke's Pitch@Palace events at St James's Palace.

Hundreds of his friends and business contacts were there, supporting dozens of entrepreneurs who were pitching their ideas.

It would be wrong to say he doesn't have supporters because there were many at the event who wanted to talk to me about the positive impact of his work.

He is still able to pull in a considerable crowd of influential people.

But from a wider PR perspective, the media coverage has continued to frame Andrew's work in the context of Epstein and the sex scandal.

This interview was a high-risk strategy to try to shut out that negative noise.

I think he did need to do an interview. The written statements have not shut down the scandal.

The palace would have known this was going to be a major news moment, and been braced for the fall out.

But no one but the Duke of York can truly explain why he decided to say he had no regret about his friendship with a convicted sex offender.

Only he can be blamed for the damage that has done.
