Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was found with a fatal stab wound in Liverpool.

Officers were called to Prince William Street, Toxteth, at 4.30pm following reports a man had been stabbed in the chest.

The victim, who was in his 30s, was later pronounced dead in hospital.

A man in his 20s has been detained and will be questioned.

Police believe the attack was targeted and they are investigating the full circumstances.

The victim's family has been informed.

Investigators have urged anyone who was nearby and saw any suspicious behaviour or witnessed the incident to get in touch.
