World New European record for Bayern with 23 consecutive wins
Open Letter: For the Sake of Transatlantic Security, Stop Nord Stream 2 | Opinion
Nord Stream 2 undermines both the Transatlantic relationship and the idea of European unity. As former and current national leaders, diplomats, ministers, and experts, we call for the project to be stopped forthwith.Over the past decade, the Government of the Russian Federation has engaged in a litany of malign activities aimed at upending liberal democratic norms across Europe and North America. The shocking poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny by a variant of the weapons-grade nerve agent Novichok shows that Moscow has not been deterred by Western actions and statements and refuses to reverse its destabilizing political adventurism at home and abroad.
Bayern Munich, in winning Thursday in the European Supercup against Sevilla (2-1 after extra time), won its 23rd consecutive victory in all competitions, a new absolute record for a club in a major European championship.
"No club in the five major European leagues has ever succeeded in such a series," noted the site of the Bavarian club on Friday, which has won everything since February 16 and its success (4-1) in Cologne in the Bundesliga.
Football statisticians have confirmed this record, which until then belonged to Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid, with 22 straight wins between September and December 2014.
