Dems Ready to Make GOP Pay if SCOTUS Kills Obamacare

Dems Ready to Make GOP Pay if SCOTUS Kills Obamacare One week after Election Day, the Supreme Court is set to hear the latest legal challenge to the Affordable Care Act—and a newly confirmed conservative justice could easily usher in a decision that overturns the sweeping health-care law once and for all. Democrats might not have the power to stop President Donald Trump’s nominee to the court from being seated before it hears that case on Nov. 10. But in the meantime, they’re working to make sure Republicans who vote for the president’s pick are tagged with the painful politics of health care.

The general debate is the annual meeting of Heads of State and Government at the beginning of the General Assembly session. The general debate web site is available in English and in French for each speaker's page, that offers audio and on-demand video in the six official languages of the UN

Heads of state and government from more than 60 countries jointly adopted a so-called "promise for nature" in New York on Monday.

Numerous large countries such as Brazil, India, the USA and China did not take part in the action. On Wednesday there will be the first high-level event on the protection of biological diversity at the United Nations, for which, however, no joint final document is planned. Florian Titze from the nature conservation association WWF Germany commented that it was a "poor testimony".

A UN biodiversity conference is planned for the coming year in Kunming, China. "Kunming must turn biodiversity into a pervasive concern and a political issue," said UN General Assembly President Volkan Bozkir. "Everyone needs to understand the risks of inaction."
