We use numerous abbreviations every day in Corona events, but sometimes we don't really know: what do they actually stand for? Here is an overview of the most important pandemic abbreviations.

AHA formula

BMG

Covid-19

The abbreviation Covid-19 stands for CO-rona VI-rus D-isease (German: Coronavirus disease). The "19" stands for the year the virus broke out in China: 2019.

Ct value

The Ct abbreviation comes from the English term "cycle threshold". The Ct value indicates the point at which the exponential growth of a curve begins. In connection with Corona, it provides orientation for classifying the amount of virus in patient swabs.

FFP

The abbreviation is used in connection with masks and stands for the English "filtering face piece" - filtering face piece. FFP masks protect the wearer from particles, droplets and aerosols. There are models with and without an exhalation valve. Masks without a valve filter inhaled and exhaled air and offer protection for the wearer and the environment. Masks with valves do not offer any third-party protection. There are three levels with different effects, with level 3 offering the highest protection.

WHO

The "World Health Organization" (WHO) - in German: World Health Organization, is the United Nations (UN) coordinating authority for international public health and is headquartered in Geneva (Switzerland).
