76-year-old Joni Mitchell has struggled to recover since a ruptured aneurysm in 2015. But the folk singer remains optimistic.
The legend of folk music Joni Mitchell still "struggles" today to walk again after a ruptured aneurysm suffered in 2015, she confided in a rare interview to the press on the occasion of the release of a box set of his first recordings, Joni Mitchell Archives Vol 1: The Early Years (1963-1967).
"I haven't written recently (...), I don't play guitar or piano, or anything," the 76-year-old singer, considered one of the best, told British dailyof his generation, specifying that his convalescence “takes time.” “I'm just focusing on getting healthy,” adds the singer.

She compares her convalescence with the battle with polio that she must have had in her youth. "I've recovered from polio, and here I am again, and I'm struggling."
The Canadian artist was hospitalized urgently on March 31, 2015 in Los Angeles, the victim of a ruptured aneurysm which had caused him to lose the ability to speak for a few months. "The polio hadn't hit me like that, but the ruptured aneurysm took a lot longer, really." The accident "took hold of my speech and my ability to walk. I quickly recovered my speech, but I still struggle to walk," she continues.
Optimistic about the future, she claims to be "a fighter". "I have Irish blood," says the singer who has inspired generations of artists, from Neil Diamond to Prince.
Joni Mitchell, who tells The Guardian of having struggled for a long time with the folk singer label, was a major figure in the folk rocker generation of the 1960s with hits like Big Yellow Taxi, Both Sides, Now and Woodstock, Hymn to the glory of the famous festival in which she had not yet participated in August 1969.
