Three quarters of TGV and Ouigo trains should remain at the quayside from Wednesday November 4, according to information from our colleagues at Franceinfo confirmed by AFP. As a direct consequence of the second containment , the railway company is drastically reducing its high-speed offer, travel between regions no longer being authorized, except for professional or "urgent" reasons.
Five round trips per day between Paris and Lyon, three Paris-Dijon or even two Paris-renoble: on certain routes, traffic could be reduced by up to 70%.
Depending on the evolution of the situation, "additional adaptations could be implemented in the course of the next week," the company told AFP.

The second wave of Covid-19 deals a new blow to the railway company, already weakened by the social movements started on December 5, 2019 and continued until February 2020, then by the first confinement . 93% of TGVs had been canceled at the height of the crisis, in the spring.
According to its half-yearly financial report published on July 30, 2020 [ PDF ], the company recorded a loss of 2.4 billion euros. Three billion euros were added to the SNCF group's debt in the first half of 2020, which accumulated 38,327 million euros in debt as of July 30.
In 2019, the railway company had accumulated more than 60 billion euros in debt. The State had undertaken to take back 35 of these 60 billion, including a first tranche of 25 billion in January 2020.
Bus lines interruptedOn the side of the bus companies, the measures are even more drastic: Blablabus and Flixbus have suspended their French lines. "To participate as much as possible in the collective effort against the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic, we are temporarily suspending our domestic lines in France from Monday, November 2 and until further notice," explains the company Flixbus in an press release of November 2 .
Some international lines remain open but intermediate stops in France will not be served.
Reconfinement: the rant of a doctor in the face of non-compliance with the rules .
© LUCAS BARIOULET / AFP As France faces a new wave of Covid-19, several health professionals denounce the lightness of some French compared to the second version of confinement. "There is a so-called 'partial' confinement that I believe has not been respected", deplores Gilbert Deray from Pitié-Salpêtrière, Thursday on Europe 1. Less strict than that of the spring, the second confinement does not seem sufficiently respected for many doctors and public health specialists.
