BERLIN (Reuters) - A car crashed into the entrance gate of the German Chancellery in Berlin on Wednesday morning without causing any visible damage, a Reuters journalist reported.

In a Reuters photograph of the scene, an inscription in white paint calling for an end to the globalization policy is visible on the right side of the vehicle.

According to other images disseminated on social networks, the left side is decorated with a sentence calling out to the "damn murderers of children and the elderly".

Dozens of police were immediately deployed and a sniffer dog inspected the car.

No injuries are reported.

Chancellor Angela Merkel is due to chair a videoconference meeting this Wednesday morning with the leaders of the country's Länder, during which a possible extension of the "light confinement" in force in Germany and other measures to fight against the epidemic due to the new coronavirus.
