Thuringian investigators raided three federal states against a suspected criminal network of neo-Nazis. Police officers searched 27 apartments and business premises in Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt and Hesse on Friday, as the Thuringia State Criminal Police Office (LKA) announced in Erfurt. Arrest warrants were executed against eight accused between the ages of 24 and 55.
In a further case, an enforcement arrest warrant was implemented against a suspect. Another man who was found drugs was provisionally arrested, according to the LKA.
NSW criminal networks targeted by squad
Sydney's feuding crime gangs will be targeted by a stand-alone police squad which is being expanded to rein in "urban terrorists" who run criminal networks.Police Commissioner Michael Fuller says Strike Force Raptor will separate from the Criminal Groups Squad and become the Raptor Squad from Monday.
The investigating public prosecutor's office in Gera accuses the accused of trading narcotics in large quantities as well as money laundering. At the raids in the Gotha area, in Bad Langensalza, Saalfeld-Rudolstadt as well as in the Lahn-Dill district in Hesse and in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt, there were more than 500 emergency services from Thuringia, special forces from Saxony-Anhalt as well as specialists from the Federal Criminal Police Office and the Hesse region LKA involved.
According to information from Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), the proceedings are directed against alleged members of the so-called neo-Nazi fraternities Turonen and Garde 20. They are said to have been involved in large-scale drug trafficking in Thuringia for years. They are also suspected of having laundered the profits from these drug deals. In the money laundering, a scene lawyer should also play a role, whose office in Hesse was also searched, according to the MDR.
Libya: More than 150 migrants freed in raid on traffickers
Security forces arrested six traffickers who kept a house-turned-prison in Kufra and referred them to prosecutors. The raid in the city of Kufra took place on February 16 after a migrant managed to escape a house-turned-prison last week and reported to authorities that he and other migrants were held and tortured by traffickers there, the Kufra security bureau said.
The LKA initially did not want to confirm a connection with a right-wing extremist network or further details. As the MDR further reported, the neo-Nazis are said to have operated a brothel in Gotha, among other places. In addition, there is suspicion of the arms trade with sources in other European countries.
According to the report, there are also two neo-Nazis among the main accused, who are said to have belonged to a group of thugs who beat a fair society in Ballstädt, Thuringia, seven years ago. According to the MDR, the trigger for the proceedings against the neonazine network was a secret wiretapping operation by the Thuringian Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
